Quick Answer

For the best print quality, submit vector files like EPS or PDF with fonts converted to outlines. If you only have a raster image such as a JPG or TIFF, make sure it is high enough resolution for the size you are ordering.

  • Vector files (EPS, PDF) scale to any size without losing quality.
  • Raster files (JPG, TIFF, PSD) need enough resolution for your banner size.
  • Keep important text or images at least 2 inches from the edge.

Graphics for vinyl banners, fabric flags, yard signs, and other orders with custom artwork should be reviewed against the following artwork specifications.

For more info, check out our Artwork Specifications PDF.

If you have questions about your artwork file, or you would like us to check the quality before you place your order, please email the artwork to [email protected] along with your order information.

Acceptable Files for Printing

  • EPS (Encapsulated Post Script)
  • PDF (Adobe PDF)
  • PSD (Adobe Photoshop)
  • JPG (High Resolution JPEG)
  • TIFF (High Resolution TIFF)

Vector Files

Vector files are line art, scalable to any size without losing resolution. The image will stay clean and crisp.

  • EPS (CS5 or lower)
  • PDF

If submitting these files, be sure you have converted all fonts to outlines or curves. Vector files can be submitted at any size proportionate to the banner size ordered.

Raster Files and Images

Raster files and images are pixel-based images, and depending on the resolution, the image becomes blurry as it is enlarged.

  • PSD
  • JPG
  • TIFF

If submitting these files, please follow the guidelines below:

  • 100% scale (full size output) at 100 dpi
  • 50% scale at 200 dpi or higher
  • 25% scale at 300 dpi or higher
  • 10% scale at 600 to 1200 dpi recommended

Thumbnail sized JPG and GIF files are not at a high enough resolution to be used on large prints like banners.

Vector vs. Raster Comparison

Feature Vector Files Raster Files
Common Formats EPS, PDF PSD, JPG, TIFF
Best For Logos, line art, and text-heavy designs Photographs and detailed images
Scaling Scales to any size without quality loss Can blur or pixelate when enlarged
Resolution Requirement Not resolution dependent Depends on output scale (100 to 1200 dpi)

Vectorizing and Recreating Images

If you are not able to provide us with a good quality image, we do have a vectorizing and recreating service available. Most logos or images can be recreated for as little as $15, though images with more detail are subject to a quote prior to vectorizing. Please contact a sales representative for more details.

This service needs to be paid for in advance, and we will release a copy of your vectorized artwork to you for a fee.

File Tips

  • No bleeds are necessary, unless ordering a banner stand that requires one.
  • Set up size proportionate to the size banner you are ordering.
  • To prevent any text or important images from falling on the hemline or being interrupted by a grommet, keep them at least 2 inches away from the edge.
  • Convert all text to outlines.

Banner Sizes

Exact sizes cannot be guaranteed, as banners can fluctuate up to 1/2 inch per linear foot. For example, the finished size of a 12 foot (144 inch) banner can be up to 6 inches short.

Printing Process

All products are printed in CMYK color. If files are submitted in RGB, color shifting will take place. If a specific PMS color is needed, please let us know when you submit the order, and we will do our best to meet that specified color.

Color is important. For more information about color management, please visit our color management page.

If you have any questions, please contact a customer service representative at 320-391-5300 or email [email protected].
